so I’m entering this photo contest thing…

August 18th, 2005 by garlynn

Y’all should view my photos, and BOOKMARK any that you think are "hot."

My personal favorite is the sunrise after the burn, but I leave it up to your discretion which ones you like.

According to the contest organizer,

" You can ask your friends to bookmark you even
if they are not in the Photo Contest group. Use
the ‘Post a Bulletin’ link and/or BLOGS to spread
the word so that you could be BOOKMARKED.
They can just go on your profile to bookmark you.
But in order for you to be qualified, you have to be
in the Photo Contest group. That’s all!"

So yeah, have fun!! :-)

cheers,
~Garlynn

P.S. for those of you going to the burn, Green Gorilla Lounge will be at 10:00 & Bipolar, and open from Wednesday through whenever we all pass out on Sunday post-burn.

Yup, that party pretty much rocked.

August 1st, 2005 by garlynn

We had about 700 people show up, we went until sunrise, the sound was awesome, the DJs all played extra-terriffic sets, I think everybody had a blast, people lost clothing, it was general mayhem…

Anybody have any specific memories to share?

Party is ON!! Last Saturday of July, 2005…

July 15th, 2005 by garlynn

So, our party is on.  It will be the last Saturday of July, at an underground location from 10pm ’till 6am.   2 floors, 2 bars, 16 DJs, including:

M3
Dee
Laird
Galen
Bones
Alvaro
Nathan
Melyss
Antonio
Mancob
Garlynn
Jai Young
Fred Funk
Sol & Seven
Bran Robinson
Tal & Chardmo

…and the theme, you ask?  The Playa.  Playa wear encouraged.  The mad science disco will perhaps be apparent once you’re inside, but in terms of selecting costumes, anything playa-rriffic will be fine. :-)

And, hotties in white coats roaming the floor with test tube shots of a special concoction?  Those rumors may still be true. ;-)

Are you excited?  Pumped?  Can’t wait to get your playa on and funk it out all night long?  Come on by.  Go to another show, shut down their bar, then bring everybody over to the party afterwards.  Mutaytor is rockin’ the Fillmore earlier in the evening, Jai Young is doin’ his thang at some other underground spot, also earlier in the evening, and then we will be the after-party.  And what an after-party!!

Or, if nothing else sounds great that night, come early and show some love for the DJs playing the sets from 10pm ’till 2am (that is, before the bars close).

You get the picture.

Psst — pass it on!

love,
~Garlynn

an event July 23rd weekend from a fellow burner

July 8th, 2005 by garlynn

Hey friends,
I got this post on Myspace from a fellow burner.  I’ll be out of town that weekend, but it sounds *reallY* cool so I wanted to pass it on to y’all.

Hi!

I saw your profile and saw that Burning Man is one of your interests
and that you live in the Bay Area. We are having a Fundriaser
party/concert for our theme camp, The Wet Spot on July 23 and we would
love it if you considered coming out and supporting us. Please read all
of the info below and you will have a better idea of what the party
will be like.

Thannks!

Robin

The Cold Wet Spot invites you to…

Come up to the Santa Cruz Mountains and enjoy a 2 day Burner

retreat/FUNdraiser, a fabulous Reggae concert with 2+ Bands and a Live DJ

including Santa Cruz’ own DUB CONGRESS , and a scrumptious "Wake-N-Bacon"

Breakfast the next day.

We are raising money for our 2005 Burning Man project, a 48′ refrigerated

semi trailer housing the coolest party on the playa!

If you made it to our last fundraiser party, this one will be BIGGER,

BETTER, LONGER and UNCUT! If you missed the last one, here’s your chance to

come out and see what all the rave was about!

Bands include the Reggae Superstars, Dub Congress (www.dubcongress.com) and

the San Jose favorite, The Starving Millionaires. Alongside them will be

The Powerhouse Crew, throwin’ down Hip Hop & reggae.

Bring your tent, pitch it in the beautiful Redwood forest, dance and drink

’til you drop! If you are not a camper or prefer to not stay for the night,

evening party-goers are completely welcome! 18 and over, please.

Entertainment and events include:

Tickets are $20 in advance (prior to July 19) and $25 at the gate. We’d

love to have you all come out for free, but this is a fundraiser. This

party can only get so huge, so there will be a limited number of tickets.

Get your tickets today through Paypal (www.paypal.com) or email

Robin@CouvillionMarketing.com for ticket details. Once you buy your ticket,

we will send you a unique ticket that will get you into the

party/concert/retreat.

My first Friendster blog post ever!!

July 7th, 2005 by garlynn

Hi!

I’ve been invited to serve drinks at the Critical Tits afterparty at Burning Man (on Friday) this year.  That’s right, bartend to 3,000 topless women.  Some of them bottom-less, too, I’m sure.  Why?  ‘Cuz I’m such a special guy, and generally considered to be mostly harmless, I suppose.

What do I think about this?  I’m elated.  Aside from DJ’ing, bartending is one of my favorite things to do on the playa.  This is an opportunity to bartend at somebody else’s camp, too, which ought to be a lot of fun.

Speaking of other people’s camps, though, I think I’d also like to spin records at other people’s camps at this year’s burn, as well.  Have a camp?  Want me to come play records there?  I’ll even accept requests for genre, though I reserve the right to switch genres mid-flow to respond to the crowd, such as it may be.  Old soul, funk, reggae, dub, trip-hop, downtempo, acid/funky/spacey/deep house… that’s pretty much what I’m focusing on right now.

OK, so can you respond to my blog post?  If so, do!!

Thanks!

love,
~Garlynn~
