Oktoberfest 2005

So, the Ghetto Vic is looking better these days.  I’ve managed to move every last piece of furtniture in the living room and my bedroom, except for the fishtank, which I anticipate moving soon.  Why am I spending all of my energy on such a seemingly useless effort?  It all has to do with feng shui, and seeking to make the place more functional.  I’ve moved the DJ setup into the living room, in front of the sliding doors.  It now sits atop the entertainment center.  Now, the TV, DVD Player, VCR, amp, CD changer, living room PC console, router, printer and graphic EQ are in the same place as the two turntables, the mixer and the Kaboom (DJ monitor), as well as the center channel and main-left, main-right speakers.  Then, on the other side of the sliding doors are the Imac, the roland piano and the MOOG Rogue.  There’s also a collection of live, half-starved pitbulls, a crazed relative with a gun fetish and a U-lock to keep it all from wandering off. ;-)

I’m stoked that I now have everything together, so that it’s basically all at my fingertips.  The one piece of the puzzle that hasn’t quite fit in yet is, predictably, record/CD/DVD/VHS storage.  Hmm… well, I suppose I can save that piece until later, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be in the same exact location as everything else.

This leaves only one final piece of preparation prior to me being able to throw the long-anticipated Oktoberfest 2005 party: cleaning up the rest of my personal burningman shite from the empty parking space downstairs, so that area can be used for the grilling of sausages…

When might we be able to expect this party to occur, you may ask now?

Well, probably about two weeks from now, at the soonest.   I’m open to suggestions, however — any weekend particularly bad for you?  Is Halloween weekend positively OUT?  (’cuz I have some friends visiting from p-town at that time, and they like parties.)

Speaking of shite, how was the burn this year, you may ask?  Fab.  Absolutely fab.  Here’s some pics from me:

…and finally, that comic book that everybody has already shared with everybody else (but if you haven’t checked it out yet, you need to):

Oh, and I still have somebody’s bike at my house.  Is it yours?  Describe it to me to claim it.  Really, I don’t need another bike right now. :-)

Speaking of bikes… I love the new tandem.  Did I mention yet that I have a new tandem bicycle?  I highly recommend that you go out and get one for yourself right now.  Tandems are the future.  They’re like regular bicycles, but they seat two (or more) people, who can all help in the locomotion.  They’re social, they’re fun, people on the street give you compliments as you cycle past, and when you roll up to the spot you do so in style.

‘Nuff said.  I’ll see you on your own tandem soon.

over n’ out,
~Garlynn
